Gerry Hogan

Gerry Hogan - Bloodstock Agent

Spent a few seasons with David Nicholson at Jackdaws Castle as a conditional jockey, and became a good friend of the Keighleys.  Since retiring from the saddle, he operates as a well-known and highly-regarded bloodstock agent based in Tipperary.  Has had considerable success with horses that have run well in Irish point-to-points, and is adept at identifying properly correct horses, with the right attitude, that are ready to go on and succeed under rules.  Martin trusts his judgement 100%, and is always impressed by Gerry’s detailed local knowledge of the Irish scene.  Is authoritative on a horse’s conformation, and is more than prepared to discourage bidding on something unsuitable.  Bought Champion Court and the promising staying novice, Creepy, for Martin.  Also buys for Emma Lavelle.

Aiden Murphy

Aiden Murphy - Bloodstock Agent

Aiden is one of the best judges of National Hunt horses in the country and has a close association with all the top trainers, particularly Philip Hobbs, to whom he has provided a steady flow of winners over many years including six of the last eight Grade 1 winners trained at Sandhill, such as current Kings Theatre progeny Menorah (Supreme Novices Hurdle, Cheltenham, and Betfred Novices Chase, Aintree), Captain Chris (Racing Post Chase, Kempton, and the Arkle, Cheltenham) and Fingal Bay (Challow Novices Hurdle, Sandown and hopefully soon a top-class chaser).  His whole family is immersed in racing with wife, Annabel King, a licenced trainer and son Olly now riding in point-to-points.

Jamie Magee, Newlands Stable, Upper Lambourn

Timmy Murphy with Hungry Monk

Jamie has been involved in racing all his working life, and enjoyed success as a rider with Martin Pipe, Charlie Mann and Kim Bailey.  However, he was always committed to working with young horses on breaking and pre-training, as well as remedial work after injuries.  For a number of years he did all the breaking and preparation of horses for Mick Channon.  When the opportunity presented itself for him to acquire Newlands Stables in Upper Lambourn, he and his wife Judy raised the finance to buy the yard and refurbish it, installing a state-of-the-art, cold water equine treadmill.  These facilities have been well supported, with his client list including Nicky Henderson, Alan King and Richard Hannon.

Claire Hart, Adlestrop, near Stow-on-the-Wold

Claire Hart

We’ve known Claire Hart for quite a number of years.  For a while she was assistant with Martin & Belinda Keighley, then a lead rider with Charlie Longsdon, both of whom are trainers on the Owners for Owners roster.  Claire is an excellent horsewoman and is regularly in the top three of lady point-to-point riders in the country.  In May 2017 she celebrated her 100th career win.  Several years ago she set up a friendly, multi-purpose yard in Adlestrop with excellent facilities for pre-training, breaking, re-education, rest and recuperation.  We use her a lot to look after our NH horses north of the M4, and are very pleased with the love and attention that she gives them.
