Gerry Hogan

Gerry Hogan - Bloodstock Agent

Spent a few seasons with David Nicholson at Jackdaws Castle as a conditional jockey, and became a good friend of the Keighleys.  Since retiring from the saddle, he operates as a well-known and highly-regarded bloodstock agent based in Tipperary.  Has had considerable success with horses that have run well in Irish point-to-points, and is adept at identifying properly correct horses, with the right attitude, that are ready to go on and succeed under rules.  Martin trusts his judgement 100%, and is always impressed by Gerry’s detailed local knowledge of the Irish scene.  Is authoritative on a horse’s conformation, and is more than prepared to discourage bidding on something unsuitable.  Bought Champion Court and the promising staying novice, Creepy, for Martin.  Also buys for Emma Lavelle.

Aiden Murphy

Aiden Murphy - Bloodstock Agent

Aiden is one of the best judges of National Hunt horses in the country and has a close association with all the top trainers, particularly Philip Hobbs, to whom he has provided a steady flow of winners over many years including six of the last eight Grade 1 winners trained at Sandhill, such as current Kings Theatre progeny Menorah (Supreme Novices Hurdle, Cheltenham, and Betfred Novices Chase, Aintree), Captain Chris (Racing Post Chase, Kempton, and the Arkle, Cheltenham) and Fingal Bay (Challow Novices Hurdle, Sandown and hopefully soon a top-class chaser).  His whole family is immersed in racing with wife, Annabel King, a licenced trainer and son Olly now riding in point-to-points.

Jamie Magee, Kingwood Stud, Lambourn

Timmy Murphy with Hungry Monk

This Stud has always had excellent facilities – 165 acres of prime chalk downland, 25 well-sheltered paddocks, 62 rubber-floored stables, one outdoor and two indoor schools, two covered horse walkers, a treadmill, a weighing machine, and an all-weather track – which are being improved even further by the prominent Turkish owner and breeder, Mehmet Kurt.  During 2014, a highly innovative new horse-training system is being built:  the equivalent of a one-mile equine monorail.  Jamie Magee manages the whole operation in a very professional manner covering everything to do with horse welfare, breaking, breeding, recuperation and pre-training.  His clients include Nicky Henderson, Alan King and Richard Hannon.  Jamie himself rode 100+ winners for Kim Bailey and Charlie Mann, and has been in the Lambourn area since he was 22.

Lars Kelp

Lars Kelp, horse is Paradise Spectre

Danish citizen with real breadth of international experience.  Former champion Scandinavian Flat and NH jockey in the 1980s.  During that period, also rode for Martin Pipe at Cheltenham and Aintree (11th in Grand National) as well as in US, Australia, Brazil and Hong Kong. Worked for top US trainers John Kimmel, Kay Jensen, Frank Whitley and Todd Pletcher, and for Charles Milbank in Chantilly.  From 2003, trained numerous top-rated horses, such as Glenlivet, in Scandinavia and Germany.  Also a specialist in hoof treatment (learned from world expert Ian McKinley) and chiropractice.  A full-time bloodstock agent since 2008 who has already purchased Group 3 and Listed winners.  Fluent in Danish, English, German and Swedish.  Works closely with Karl Burke at the sales.
