Winter morning on Middleham Moor

Joining the Martin Keighley Racing Club

Racing Club Amabassors Zara Tindall and Kitty King

Becoming closely involved with Martin Keighley for a one-off annual payment of £500.

This is a new venture for Martin and Belinda Keighley.  They have an enthusiastic following across the country and, more specifically, locally in Gloucestershire and neighbouring counties, with many families enjoying the numerous wins not least at the home of National Hunt racing, Cheltenham.  Many people don’t want the cost and commitment of actually owning a horse but would like to be much more closely involved than just being a racegoer ….  which is why a racing club is being established during the Autumn of 2016 with a one-off annual payment per member of £500.  There will be absolutely no further costs to pay for all the benefits of being closely involved in the yard.

Suitable horses will be offered on a free lease to the Club so there will be no capital cost for Club members.  There will be lots of benefits for the members, which we intend initially to cap at 50, and there will be two horses for the members to follow and cheer on at the course.

One aspect of the Club will be a wide range of enjoyable events away from the racecourse such as stable visits, well-organised Club mornings at the yard with refreshments, invitation to Martin’s annual Owners’ Day and lots of photos and videos updating all the Club members on the progress of their horses.  Whenever the horses run there will be 10 complimentary owners’ badges allocated by application on email (and by ballot if over-subscribed). There will be a DVD of the race whenever the horse wins..

Viking Mistress, 8yo mare by Bollin Eric (GB) ex Mistress Caramore (Ire)

Viking Mistress

Even though form to date hasn’t been particulalry impressive, Martin really likes this mare and believes that she is now on a superb handicap mark and will definitely win races.  A number of things have been done to help her physically over the summer, particularly to improve her wind, and he is now hoping for an encouraging campaign this winter.

STOP PRESS:  Viking Mistress wins on her first run for the Racing Club, at Chepstow on Saturday 8th October, under a very cool ride from Martin’s Assistant Trainer, Jamie Goldstein.

If you would like to be involved in the Racing Club for the 2016/17 season, please contact Belinda Keighley, 07979-694866.
